Cicatricial pemphigoid is a chronic bullous disease which may involve the conjunctiva, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, nasal cavity, esophagus, trachea, genitalia and skin. The etiology remains unknown, but the presence of autoantibodies to the
subepithelial basement membrane suggests an autoimmune disease. Histologic examination using an immunoflucrescent stain is a critical step in diagnosis of cicatricial pemphigoid in which characteristic subepithelial cleft formation with an immune
complex deposit at the basement membrane is seen. We are reporting three cases of cicatricial pemphigoid with our clinical experiences and review of literatures. (Korean J Otolaryngol 38:2, 1995)
